Survey of employees in hospital, psychiatry and rehabilitation clinic

What do employees expect from their work?

Which aspects are especially important for them?

Which role plays the extent of the satisfaction of their demands for the satisfaction with their work ?

Which processes are of importance and which interrelations are resulting?

By a survey of employees corresponding data can be generated on a large base and used for measures concerning the development of personnel and organisation matters. The use of questionnaires is the most frequently used method for the survey of employees. Up to now Metrik has analysed more than 46000 questionnaires in more than 150 hospitals.

The expectations of a survey of employees

The research group Metrik uses 54 items in the standard questionnaire, including a survey about importance. In such surveys the results of the items are carried out in groups of subjects like working time, workload, working conditions, freedom of action, prospects, payment, superiors, colleagues, information and flexibility of the clinic. For the examination of individual aspects the results of the individual items are used. Metrik has special expectations concerning:

  • the method of analysis In the analysis a specification has to be made between groups of professions and/or departments/wards if the anonymity of persons questioned isn't endangered.

  • the application of the results Such a survey of employees only makes sense if the management is prepared to apply the results constructively. That means that they should oblige themselves and their superiors to bear the consequences and to realize necessary changes.

  • the carrying out participation of the employees' side, guarantee of the anonymity of the persons questioned, extern record and analysis of data

Analysis

In addition to the questionnaires' analysis concerning wards for intern quality management, the main attention is put on the anonymous comparison of the clinics with each other ( benchmarking ). Here the results are presented in an exemplary way. The presentation is done in a graph and thereby facilitates the comprehension of the results.

1. Extern comparison The most interesting analysis seems to be the extern comparison of employees' satisfaction with the own house with the results of other houses.

2. Detailed extern comparison In this presentation the individual items containing advantages and potential for improvement can be quickly identified.

3. Extern comparison concerning expectation and satisfaction

4. Cooperation of the different professional groups.
